The film is set at the height of the civil war in Nepal, where students living in remote villages were often forced to join either the Maoist rebels or the Nepalese army. Raju Gaule, the protagonist, is one such student who is deeply affected by the conflict.

Maoist rebels or "Mawobadi" force Raju to join them, promising him a better life and education. However, he soon finds himself in a position where he has to fight for the rebels and die for them against the government.
