Bishal Lohani (Bishal Lohane) is a Nepali film writer, director, producer, and actor born in Parbat, Nepal in 1994. He is known for blending Nepali culture, mythology, and modern cinematic storytelling. Lohani is best recognized for his films “Ahuri,” “Happy” (2021), and “Kale Bhai” (2021) and is considered one of the emerging creative filmmakers in the Nepali film industry.

Early Career and Film Debut

Before establishing himself as an independent filmmaker, Bishal Lohani worked as an assistant director on several Nepali film projects. His practical industry experience helped him build strong technical and storytelling foundations.

In 2014, he made his debut as both actor and writer with the film “7Boys.” The film achieved critical and commercial success and later received a special screening at the Dhaulagiri Film Festival 2021, marking an important milestone in his early career.

Psychological Thriller Phase – Bhram (2016)

In 2016, Lohani wrote and directed “Bhram (The Confusion),” a psychological thriller exploring human perception and mental complexity. The film was appreciated for its unique storytelling approach and was also specially screened at the Dhaulagiri Film Festival 2021.

“Ahuri” is recognized as Nepal’s first superhero cinematic concept, combining traditional Nepali storytelling with modern fantasy and science fiction themes. The film reflects Lohani’s vision of presenting Nepali culture on a larger cinematic scale.

In 2021, Lohani directed “Happy,” an inspirational silent film focusing on hope, positivity, and emotional storytelling without heavy dialogue. The film was praised for its meaningful message and also received a special screening at the Dhaulagiri Film Festival 2021.
