Clarification: The Original Master File and the Current Re-Mastering
It is important to clarify one key point: the dubbing, editing, and VFX (post-production) work for AHURI was in fact completed as far back as December 2019. All of the local and festival screenings held between 2019 and 2021 listed above were shown using that same original master file.
However, director Bishal Lohane was not fully satisfied with that version — feeling that something was still missing from the film — and chose to hold the release back until it matched his original vision.
Today, that same original master file is being Re-Mastered to align with current-day technology and production standards. This is not a rebuild from scratch, but an upgrade of the original, painstaking work using modern post-production tools. The film will move toward release only once this Re-Mastering process is complete.
2026 Production Status: Why AHURI Is Being Re-Mastered Before Release
One of the most revealing parts of AHURI's story is the real reason behind its long wait — and it is not simply that the film remained unfinished.
According to the production team, AHURI's original post-production work was actually completed in 2019. But after completion, director Bishal Lohane felt — when measured against the technology and visual standards of the time — that something was still missing from the film. Rather than release a version he was not fully satisfied with, he made the decision to hold the project back.
Since then, the plan has been to align that original 2019 craftsmanship and effort with today's filmmaking technology through a complete Re-Mastering process. The team is now preparing to complete this reconstruction process — blending years of work already invested in the film with current-generation editing, color, and VFX capability — so that AHURI can finally be released in the form director Bishal Lohane has always envisioned.
