Introduction

AHURI (अहुरी) is an upcoming Nepali full-length feature film from Ahuri Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and Pratiphal Films — written, directed, and developed by Bishal Lohane. Blending action, adventure, comedy, fantasy, horror, mystery, and science fiction, AHURI is being positioned as Nepal's first action-fantasy superhero adventure, a genre rarely attempted in Nepali cinema at this scale.

The film's journey has been anything but ordinary. Conceived in 2016, shot beginning in 2018, and carried through years of independent screenings, a landmark charity event, and a festival premiere, AHURI is now heading toward its Worldwide Release in 2027 — closing an eleven-year creative journey.

The Story

AHURI follows a group of heroes who travel through time to save the world from an evil force threatening to destroy it. Combining time-travel mythology, ancient language, fantastical villains, and a distinctly Nepali visual identity, the film offers a fresh, homegrown take on the superhero genre — while showcasing the natural landscapes of western Nepal as the backdrop for an epic, genre-blending adventure.

A Deeply Personal Journey for Director Bishal Lohane

For Bishal Lohane, AHURI is more than a production — it is a film rooted in his own origins. Born in Bhoksing, Parbat, and raised in Kushma, Parbat, Lohane built the film's world around the landscapes and communities of his home region.

The principal photography of AHURI took place in Bhoksing — the director's birthplace — with additional major filming across Kushma, Baglung, Beni, and surrounding areas of western Nepal. This regional grounding gives AHURI a visual and cultural identity distinct from mainstream Nepali cinema, carrying the landscapes, language, and spirit of the Parbat-Baglung-Myagdi belt into a fantasy-action narrative.

Principal photography for AHURI officially began on December 22, 2018 (B.S. 2075 Poush 7, Saturday), marking the transition of the project from concept to full production. The shoot brought together local actors, technicians, supporting crew, and entire communities across multiple filming locations — an ambitious undertaking for an independent regional production.

The filmmaking process spanned years of independent, resource-constrained production — encompassing shooting, post-production, and a long-term distribution strategy — with the team persisting through the practical challenges typical of grassroots Nepali filmmaking.

Screening History: A Local Journey Before Going Global

Before its worldwide theatrical release, AHURI built its audience through a series of milestone screenings across Gandaki Province.

This screening carried AHURI beyond Kushma for the first time, introducing the film to one of Gandaki Province's major audience centers.

4th Screening — Charity Show for "Karan Bachau Abhiyan"

One of the most meaningful chapters in AHURI's history was a charity screening held in support of the "Help Save Karan Campaign" (Karan Bachau Abhiyan).

  • Time: 12:00 PM

Through the campaign, a total of NPR 3,88,855 was raised and handed over to the campaign's beneficiary, Karan Purja. Funds were collected through outreach across Parbat, Baglung, and Myagdi, with contributors donating more than NPR 200 receiving tickets, while others purchased tickets specifically to support the cause.

For AHURI and its team, this screening turned a film event into a humanitarian platform — demonstrating cinema's power to serve the community directly, not just entertain it.

5th Screening — The First Dhaulagiri Film Festival 2021

  • Date: December 25, 2021 (B.S. 2078 Poush 10)
  • Time: 6:00 PM

Why AHURI Matters

AHURI represents a rare undertaking in regional Nepali cinema: an independently produced, genre-blending action-fantasy epic shot almost entirely with local casts, crews, and communities across Bhoksing, Kushma, Baglung, and Beni. Its scale — reflected in a cast and crew list running into the hundreds, spanning stunts, VFX, ancient-language design, drone and jimmy-jib cinematography, and an original musical score — sets it apart from typical small-scale regional productions.

For Bishal Lohane, AHURI is the culmination of everything his earlier work — from 7 BOYS to BHRAM: THE CONFUSION, CHHUWACHHUT, and his short films — has been building toward: an ambitious, homegrown Nepali story that carries his region's landscape, language, and identity onto an international stage.

The film's evolution from a 2016 concept, through a 2018 production start, four milestone local screenings (including a charity event that raised NPR 3,88,855 for a community cause), and a festival premiere, to a planned 2027 Worldwide Release, reflects over a decade of persistence in independent Nepali filmmaking.

🎬 AHURI is officially set to release in 2027.

The official look poster reflects the soul of the film—mysterious, intense, and visually striking. With layered symbolism, dramatic lighting, and a cinematic tone, the poster hints at:

  • A hidden battle between good and evil
  • Time, destiny, and unknown forces
  • A world where ancient belief meets futuristic imagination

The motion poster further elevates excitement, promising a cinematic experience rarely explored in Nepali cinema.
